How to prepare your files

  • For any document

You must ensure that your bleed is present as well as the printed margin.

We prefer getting your original files, your fonts and all your imports. This will allow us to make last adjustments to your file.

Your imports may be in RGB or CMYK mode, but don’t forget to include your profiles.

If you prefer to provide us with a PDF file, make sure you have followed the right procedure.

For laser printing, your images will need a 300dpi resolution and for inkjet printing, a minimum of 200dpi is required.

Finally, please ensure that the files you send us are at the right printing dimensions.

  • Printing a brochure

To print a brochure, the number of pages must be a multiple of 4, for example, a 16-page brochure.

Your open brochure size must not exceed 12x18 inches. If your open brochure size is greater please contact us at atelier@photosynthese.com.

  • Printing a book with perfect binding

To print a book with perfect binding a minimum of 30 pages is required for a square spine.

We recommend that you add a cover page to the beginning and end of your document.

Pages that are printed one-sided only should always be followed with a blank page.

You can include a spine in your cover file, and we’ll adjust it after the inside pages are printed. The height of your book cannot exceed 12 inches. If the size of your book is greater, please contact us at atelier@photosynthese.com.

  • Printing a document with spiral binding

If your document is printed double-sided while some pages are printed on one side only, it is important to always include a blank page immediately following them.

We suggest that you to free-up some space on the binding side for a security zone of 1/2’’ or 12 mm away from any important typographical or design element.

Your final document dimensions must fit within 12x18 inches. If your document is bigger, please contact us at atelier@photosynthese.com.

  • Printing business cards

Send us your files individually without imposition and with your bleed.

Standard dimensions for a business card are 2x3,5 inches.

We suggest you avoid thin design borders since they risk being uneven when trimed.

  • Printing self-adhesive labels

If your sticker requires being cut to a particular shape, please add a die-line with a custom colour to overprint your file.

For better adhesion of your stickers we recommend light round corners.

If you need to cover an already printed surface or a dark color, ask for an opaque sticker.

If the label is to be applied to a refrigerator container, ask for a self-adhesive vinyl.

You must inform us if your stickers need to be individually cut (through-cut) or pre-cut from the press sheet (kiss-cut).

  • For inkjet printing

Send us your file, preferably in Adobe RGB mode, with a resolution between 150 and 300dpi in a TIFF format without compression.

Note that we do accept other formats (PSD, JPG, etc.).

Please forward your images in the right dimensions including borders, if present.

  • For die-cutting

You must provide us with a vector file with different colours showing us the different die-cuts to be produced. Make sure you have a simple and continuous trace.

Accepted formats include .AI, .EPS or PDF.
